About the Adeje International Golf Society

Adeje

Home for this group of enthusiastic golfers is the Adeje Championship Golf Course, located in the sun kissed south of Tenerife, close to the popular holiday destinations of Los Cristianos, Las Americas and Costa Adeje.

The Adeje Championship Course has previously hosted both the Mens and Womens Spanish Opens and this year held back-to-back European Tour events.  The course provides a stiff test of golf from whichever tees it is played. Measuring 6255 meters from the back tees or 4819 meters from the forward tees you can be assured of a challenging round.

This beautiful and demanding course has views to the Atlantic Ocean with our immediate Canarian island neighbour La Gomera often prominent in the distance shimmering in the heat haze or shrouded in some light cloud. Together, with a backdrop of the tallest mountain in Spain, the long dormant volcanic Mount Teide and her sister mountains, this makes for a spectacular place to play golf.

Our Society

As you would expect the golf course has great facilities with a fully stocked shop ready to meet all of your golfing needs, full catering including the ever popular buffet and a fantastic outside terrace for dissecting those perfect or imperfect rounds with your playing partners.

Practice putting and chipping greens with warm up nets are adjacent to the clubhouse with a practice range a short Golf Cart ride away. Full changing and shower facilities are also first class.

Club days are Tuesdays and Saturdays with the early starters completing their rounds by around midday, so feel free to come and visit us on these days. Club members are instantly recognisable by their Canary Yellow shirts with the AIGC logo, or alternatively contact the club secretary for more information.  Please note places are often limited in the peak winter months.

Prospective members should provide a current WHS Certificate from their home course or National Association, unaffiliated players will be required to complete 3 rounds for handicap purposes. Round and Buggy fees are set by the golf course and should be settled directly with them before play.

Handicaps

It has been decided under the new handicap system that any member who is not permanent in Tenerife will have to play from their World Handicap Index.

This will be the handicap they will play with.

This is the fairest way of playing for the members who are permanently here.

If you cannot produce a certificate then you will play for a handicap, putting three cards in, your handicap while playing those three cards will be scratch and you will still pay your club fees for the game.
